As unique individuals, AIM House participants have varied backgrounds and stories. Many are bright and full of potential, but feel trapped in negative patterns that inhibit their ability to live independently and prevent them from achieving success in the present. Often, AIM participants lack awareness of how the choices they make impact their lives and those of the people closest to them. They feel life is happening to them, not due to them, and don’t know where they fit in. Our goal is to help AIM residents find their unique place in the world. We create a nurturing yet demanding environment where participants can grow to understand their inner nature and come to take responsibility for their own lives. By providing clear structure, realistic expectations, and the dependable support of peers, AIM House gives individuals the opportunity to discover how capable and resourceful they truly are.
The young adults that join our program arrive at AIM House in various states of mind. In many cases, participants begin their lives here after completing a short-term program to address acute issues. These residents are ready to start fresh but need help applying their new skills in a real world setting. AIM House is a good place to start putting these ideals into practice. Our sole requirement and the only element necessary to succeed in our program is the willingness to change. The reasons for and the ways in which our participants alter their lives are as individual as they are. The personalized AIM House plan that facilitates the change both respects and reflects these differences.
