Mike received his Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy from Regis University in Denver. He brings to AIM House a long dedication to working with adolescents and young adults in diverse settings. Most recently Mike worked as a community Therapeutic Mentor with Vive Family Support Program with underserved adolescents with co-occurring diagnosis in East Boston; addressing their substance abuse with the evidenced based Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA) Model.

Prior to that, Mike worked as a Senior Mentor at the residential facility Insight Intensive west of Boulder, CO. There he acted as therapist, mentor, and coach, challenging existing narratives, facilitating goal setting, and supporting transition planning. Mike also developed and facilitated Insight’s weekly Men’s Group, shedding light on core issues impeding young men from successful launches into adulthood, ranging from lack of personal values to substance and screen addiction.

His passion to work with the adolescent population was originally inspired by working with teens in both out-patient and private practice settings through a Solution-Focused lens on a wide range of disorders including Adjustment, PTSD, Oppositional Defiant, ADHD, and Anxiety & Depression. He gained invaluable training and experience over a three-year period volunteering as a Mentor for Peers Building Justice, presenting social justice presentations all over the Boulder Valley School District, as well as a Teen Bereavement Counselor at Camp Erin. Enjoying time with his family and friends, hiking and playing drums are some of Mike’s favorite pastimes.
