Tyla joined AIM House in 2014. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Walden University, from where she is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Tyla’s professional and volunteer background is quite eclectic; she lived in Guyana for a year where she was immersed in the culture, taught locals situational awareness as a self-defense and grappling instructor at an MMA facility in Oakland, CA, and has served in the U.S. Air Force. Always eager to combine her work with her love of the outdoors, she enjoys taking participants on hikes and nature walks. Tyla aspires to be a wilderness therapist someday, and in her free time, you can find her adventuring in the mountains, slack-lining, climbing, and camping.
